The staff is very eager to please. The food is very good. Conveniently located near Alvarado-Niles and Decota Roads.
Baldie's can't be beaten for a perfect diner experience any time of day! Generous portions, extensive menu, friendly & fast service. What's NOT to like?! A definite local and not too hidden gem. Fantastic omelettes, huge burgers, wide selection of entrees w/ daily specials. Seems to be a welcoming haven for seniors and families. Lots of take out orders. Highly recommend!
Great service and even though it's always busy the food comes out quickly. Today we had burgers and the Chinese chicken salad. Both were excellent.
Stopped in for lunch and it was really good! We sat outside in their patio area as my brother had his dog with him. The server, Erin, was very friendly and energetic. We ordered Club sandwich, vegetable omelette with country potatoes, and cheeseburger with/fries. Everything was very tasty and it feels great to support a small business. Many diners were enjoying meals inside in an air conditioned space. Even a police officer stopped in for lunch so you know it's gotta be good! Clean bathroom, too.
Let me start off by saying this place has a old School diner feel. The waiters are amazing! Rhonda specifically is a sweat heart. Attentive, informative and kept the coffee on coming. I had the corn beef hash and it was made to perfection. My mom had steak and eggs, which was also cooked perfectly at medium well. Prices are very reasonable and affordable at time when everything seems to be going up. This place is a MUST for the whole family or just a quick bite alone. Important to mention coffee was fresh and my cup never went under half empty. Put this on your list of next places to try.
Baldie's is on the corner of a small strip. There's hella parking and the restaurant has a very old school feel. Time, not ideology lol. I took my mom here for her birthday. The customer service was great, every one greeted us and they were attentive while we were eating. I think we got coffee refills hella times lol. It was cool. The food came out pretty quick and was really good. I don't have any complaints. It's such a gem and I would go back again for the lunch.
A classic family style diner with very friendly service and solid food. My girlfriend and I were looking for something low key/ chill for dinner last Friday and we ended up stopping by here for dinner. Very glad we did. Ambiance wise, this was reminiscent of the diners I used to go to on the East Coast. The restaurant itself is very cute and old school - this is definitely a local spot as the person working front desk seemed to know the majority of the people coming in and out. For food, we kept it fairly simple and ordered burgers - both of the burgers we got (a bacon cheese burger and a veggie burger) were solid. Classic charbroiled burgers with a good side of fries. Portions are very generous, especially for the price. Service wise, this place was great - Our server was very friendly. They brought out our waters and drinks (Coffee and Iced Tea). The restaurant was also able to accommodate my girlfriend and do one of their classic burgers with a veggie patty. All in all - Baldie's is a no frills diner serving solid food! If I lived closer I'd probably try and be a regular myself. Would definitely recommend stopping by. Food : 4/5 Service : 5/5 Ambiance 5/5 Final Score : 4.65/5
Baldie's an Italian-inspired diner located in a small strip mall in Union City that's been around for years. I, however, tried it for the first time this weekend. Note that the parking lot gets pretty crowded during brunch but you should still be able to find a spot. We were seated pretty quickly. I got one of their breakfast specials, which wasn't too impressive. The hash browns were slightly undercooked and there was only one egg that came with the meal. I got to try some of my friends' dishes, which included veal that came with soup, corn, and mashed potatoes and spaghetti and meatballs that came with soup and garlic bread. Have to say I prefer their dinner items more than breakfast (and you can order anytime of day). The spaghetti sauce in particular had great flavor and a nice kick which I appreciated. The homemade tapioca pudding was just OK. The service was attentive and came by multiple times to check in and offer more coffee. Diner vibes were great as well, nice level of noise without being overly loud. I think there's a lot of items on the menu worth trying, though I might avoid the basic breakfast meals as you can find better elsewhere.
I was very impressed with this mom and pop restaurant. It brought back good memories of my childhood .. The decor is exactly what I would think it would be with booths and a counter .. I had the veal Parmesan which was excellent .. I was really impressed with the bread. A nice crunchy crust . Smooth bitter . Mmm . The sauce was home made and it was pretty good. Service was good and my iced tea and waters weee always refilled . The food came out fast and was hot. I'm happy about that .. some other places. Ri g your food and it's not hot. Her wit was hot and fresh. My salad was crisp and crunchy lettuce - so you know it was fresh as well. I would say a win overall. And reasonably priced. I will be back.
